Middle School Band
The South Fayette Middle School band program builds on the foundation of elementary music and prepares students for the rigors and rewards of high school band. Students develop technique, musicianship, and a love of ensemble performance.
Building the Next Generation
Middle school band at South Fayette is a full-year course that meets daily. Students are placed in ensembles by grade and ability level, with opportunities to advance and challenge themselves throughout the year. The program emphasizes individual growth, ensemble skills, and musical literacy.

Grade-Level Ensembles
Students are placed in ensembles by grade, with opportunities to advance based on ability and dedication.
Grade 8
8th Grade Band
The most advanced middle school ensemble, preparing students for the transition to high school band. Repertoire includes challenging concert literature and PMEA festival music.
Grade 7
7th Grade Band
Students continue developing technique and ensemble skills, performing at formal concerts and exploring a wider range of musical styles.
Grade 6
6th Grade Band
Students entering middle school band build on their elementary foundation, focusing on tone production, technique, and ensemble listening.
PMEA Junior District Band
Outstanding middle school musicians have the opportunity to audition for the PMEA Junior District Band each year. This prestigious ensemble brings together the top young musicians from across the region for a weekend of intensive rehearsal and a culminating concert. Ask your director for audition requirements and repertoire.
